While ISCA maintains only a small secretariat, it is effective in achieving its goals through the support of its member Associations.
ISCA represents the interests of the sector on a national basis such as in relation to Commonwealth funding and representation on national policy making bodies. Independent schools may choose to belong to their State or Territory Association of Independent Schools (AIS). It is the AISs that provide direct services to schools in the area of administration of Commonwealth targeted programme funding, curriculum support, professional development and industrial services. They also represent the interests of Independent schools on a State or Territory basis.
Board of Management
The Board of Management is responsible for ensuring that ISCA is managed effectively on behalf of the member Associations and to set general policy directions. The Board is made up of a Chairman and one delegate from each of the eight State and Territory Associations.
Executive Directors’ Council (EDCO)
The Executive Directors of the State and Territory Associations, together with ISCA’s Executive Director, constitute the Executive Directors’ Council (EDCO). EDCO meets frequently throughout the year and provides advice to the ISCA Executive Director on ISCA issues. EDCO also provides a forum for discussion of issues that are principally Association-related.
