Funding Arrangements for Independent Schools

On 20 September 2018 the Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison MP, and the Minister for Education, the Hon Dan Tehan MP, announced new school funding arrangements. (Updated 12 September 2019)


Direct Income Measure of Capacity to Contribute

Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools

The Department of Education and Training ‘s webpage outlining the David Gonski led Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools. Contains a link to  the review’s final report, terms of reference, review panel members and an issues paper. ISCA’s submission can be found here.

Review of the socio-economic status score methodology 

The Australian Government established the National School Resourcing Board to provide greater independent oversight over Commonwealth school funding. The Board will undertake reviews of different parts of the funding model. Its first review considered how socio-economic status (SES) scores are calculated and the way in which a non-government school’s capacity to contribute to the running costs of their school is assessed. On 29 June 2018, the Board submitted its report to Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training.
The next review expected to be undertaken by the Board will focus on the loading which delivers additional funding for students with disability, and the needs-based funding arrangements of approved system authorities.
